When do you use "I" vs" Me"?

I and ME are both pronouns. This means that they are words which are used in place of a proper name.

Many speakers of English who confuse the two are not sure how to use them correctly, so we put this together to help you figure it out.

I is a subject pronoun. It is used when we refer to the ‘doer’ of an action.
ME is an object pronoun. It is used when we refer to the ‘receiver’ of action.

Get it right with these steps!

Step 1. Identify the ACTION.
Step 2. Identify the DOER and RECEIVER.
Step 3. Use ‘I’ if we are referring to the doer. Use ‘me’ if we are referring to the receiver.

EXAMPLE. Renee lent my classmates and her new book.

Action: lent
Doer: Renee
Receiver: my classmates and
